Honda CB150X – Will it Launch In India

Honda CB150X has made its Global debut officially. Honda has showcased the CB150X at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). On papers it’s an ADV Tourer bike, inspired by its naked street fighter counterpart the CB150R. Similar to its older sibling Honda CB200X (i:e based on Hornet 2.0) currently available in India.

Although, Honda has launched CB150X at RP 32 million, (i:e Rs 1.67 lakh approximately) for base variant in Indonesia. And can rise up to RP 37 million, (i:e 1.83 lakhs approximately). We can’t expect to see CB150X on Indian soils, as Honda has no plans to do so any time soon.

Engine & Transmission specs 

Honda CB 150X is powered by a fuel injected, single cylinder, liquid cooled 149 cc engine, which seems to be straight borrowed from CB150R. That can produce max power of 16.5 bhp @ 9000 rpm & 13.8 Nm of peak torque @ 7000 rpm connected to a six speed gearbox. 

Suspensions Wheels & Brakes

At front there are 37mm upside down front forks, with 150mm of travel. CB 150X has a monoshock at the rear paired with 17” multi spoke alloy wheels. For braking there are disc brakes at both front & rear ends with ABS. With 300 mm disc at F & 240 mm disc at R.

Design Features

The CB150X being an adventure tourer, the key design styles are notably similar to CB200X. Starting from the sharp & beautiful front that looks appealing. Equipped with a full LED headlamp, which is housed inside a semi-fairing, that hugs the beefy fuel tank. Either side of the headlight, are the turn indicators installed. Installed on top is a tinted wind-screen.  The capacity of the fuel tank is not clear yet (12 liters-expected), after which there is a single piece seat, maintaining a stream line design & ends right above the taillight at the end. The tank shrouds of the CB150X are well designed & can protect the radiators from any external debris while riding, just like CB200X. To handle the under-body damage, a large bash plate / sump guard is mounter at the bottom. 

Riding Dynamics

Due to the turned in taper handle bars & center seat foot pegs, the seating posture seems very up-right. The single piece seat also adds up the comfort quotient. Thus ensuring, comfortable riding ergonomics for long touring affairs. 

The massive ground clearance of 181mm is enough to tackle large size boulders & potholes, while off-roading. That gives it 14mm more ground clearance than CB200X. Positioned at 805 mm, the seat hight is perfect for short riders unlike the 817 mm on the CB200X. 

Despite many technical specifications are yet to reveal, (Global & Indian versions may vary). Overall it’s a well designed & feature packed bike for the Indian market. Only thing remains to see, whether it will reach to the Indian shores, and at what price & features.
